Legal Counsel - Solar PV (Denmark)

Circular Search is currently recruiting for a senior legal professional, on behalf of a major investor, developer and operator of renewable energy assets, that will be responsible for all legal matters for Danish operations, projects and assets.
About Our Client
Our client is a major renewable energy company that is committed to accelerating the transition to clean energy at scale. Their vision is to make the world a better place through the development of renewable energy assets.
The business develops, finances, constructs, operates, and owns solar PV farms that generate clean electricity that is delivered to local and national electricity grids and is also supplied directly to businesses through corporate purchase agreements (cPPAs).
The Role
As a result of the businesses ongoing success and continued expansion in Sweden, the business looks to recruit a senior legal professional that will be responsible for all legal and contractual matters in the country.
You will be an experienced legal professional with outstanding credentials in a wide range of matters including corporate law, projects, construction, and real estate. The latter is of particular importance, an understanding of Danish real estate and land acquisition, and leasing.
You will work closely with the senior management team and in collaboration with your colleagues in Denmark and other locations the business operates in. You will also have support from external counsel for any particular matters that require specialist assistance. Furthermore, you will be a key partner to the technical and commercial teams to ensure the efficient and effective development of projects in Denmark, and the overall operations of the business.
This position is a key role and a strategic hire that is vital to the expansion of the business and to further strengthen their position as a market leader in the solar PV industry.

As a result, the role is not strictly legal, and will encompass strategic and commercial elements, as well as the recruitment and management of team members as the business grows.

Being a strong communicator who can at the same time work collaboratively with the existing business structure you will be detail orientated and committed to meeting deadlines. It is important that you not only have a strong legal and contractual understanding, but you also have commercial acumen.
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:
Degree educated in Law and a qualified Advokat.
Hold experience within private practice and/or in-house with exposure to renewable energy and in particular, solar PV projects. Experience in construction and infrastructure is also welcomed.
A minimum of 3+ years’ postgraduate experience and direct, relevant track record in providing legal and contractual advice on projects.
Experience in advising on a wide range of legal matters across the lifecycle of a project from inception through to completion.
Will have experience in front-end advisory, drafting and negotiating contracts.
Extensive experience in real estate law in a renewable energy project development context.
Review, draft and negotiate a variety of contract documentation such as, framework agreements, supply contracts, MoUs, JV and partnership, NDA’s etc.
General corporate counsel within Denmark.
Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge of project financing, M&A and transactions relating to the acquisition and divestment of new projects, assets and companies is welcomed but not essential.
